My name Is Dan Burgess and I am 31 years old. June 2014 is the end of my 4th month with Chris Haines at Commando Fitness Training.
Let’s start at the beginning back in March, I had announced on FB the previous year that I would be running the Hastings Half Marathon! The main reason being I have never been what id class as fit even as a teenager, but I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. At this time I was between 17 and 17.5 stone, eating all sorts of crap i.e. pastry's, take always, junk-food and drinking heavily. December came around and I was told by a friend that had run in previous years that now was the time to start Training. To cut a long story short I did very little training up to the end of January, using the poor weather as an excuse not to go out running.
One day in late February my wife asked me if I’d like to come to commando fitness with her? To which I replied with no hesitation, no way, no how!! I'm busy training for the half marathon. She went ahead and booked a place for herself and in doing this accidentally booked it twice! She had spoken to Chris and he was happy to refund the extra payment. Then it happened, I thought what the hell, let’s give it a go!!
I had never done ANY circuit training before and had only heard horror stories of how hard it was. By this time I was up to 5 miles in under an hour running. IT WAS HARD! But with a lot of help and guidance with my form, positive reinforcement and encouragement from Chris I got better and it got easier. Only 2 weeks before the Marathon I had built up enough confidence, fitness and stamina to give me a boost I needed and get me through the first 7.5 miles of the Hastings half route in training, and I announced I would be running it!
I completed it in 2:31 and did not know at the time but had lost 12lb in body fat through the commando diet and training coupled with my running! I am now 30lb lighter with 7 inches of my waist I am a much healthier happier man, and I still treat myself and eat the things I enjoy in moderation. I'm not at my target weight yet but I'm confident I WILL get there with Commando Fitness!
